Custom Display TV Wall with Built-In Storage
A personalized drywall entertainment wall designed around the homeowner’s art collection, with custom-sized illuminated niches, flexible stone accents and concealed storage.
The homeowner’s goal
A Place for the TV, the Collection and Everyday Storage
The original Winter Park living-room wall held a large television, a low media console, artwork and a collection of meaningful decorative pieces. The homeowner wanted a permanent feature that would organize everything without losing the personality of the room.
Rather than using identical openings, we planned every display niche around the height and width of the objects that would live there. The result is a wall built for this homeowner’s collection—not a generic layout copied from another project.
Framing and layout
Different Niche Sizes for a Truly Custom Display
The framing stage established the recessed TV area, the upper feature shelf, the side display niches and the lower cabinet zone. Electrical routes were incorporated for the television and individual 3-inch recessed lights, keeping wiring hidden inside the new wall.
Made for the Collection
Each niche was sized differently so the homeowner’s sculptures, artwork and keepsakes would fit naturally.
Flexible Stone Backing
Textured stone inside the niches adds depth and separates the displays from the smooth drywall frame.
3-Inch Recessed Lights
Dedicated lighting highlights the collection and gives every opening a warm gallery-like presence.
The finished design
Illuminated Displays Above Practical Built-In Storage
The homeowner preferred storage over an electric fireplace, so wall-mounted IKEA cabinets were integrated beneath the television. Their simple white fronts keep attention on the collection while providing space for items that do not need to remain visible.
Crown molding connects the new wall to the existing architectural details of the room. Smooth drywall, textured flexible stone and warm recessed lighting work together to make the installation feel established and intentional.
